I understand and empathise deeply, when I turned 50, despite not suffering from PMT during my menstruating years, I started experiencing Menopause symptoms, including hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings etc.

At my worse I experienced up to 18 flushes a day. I would wake up in middle of the night, drenched, in a puddle of sweat, take off my PJs just to freeze a few minutes later. I did not sleep well, I either couldn’t fall asleep, or if I did, I would wake up at 1, 2 or 3am  twiddle my thumbs…hoping and praying I fall asleep again. I would get up in the morning tired, cranky and wanting to bite my poor partner’s head off.

It felt like my thermostat was broken.

I was confused, frustrated and to be honest a bit embarrassed and ashamed. Given my enthusiasm for health and nutrition, I was surprised by the impact these symptoms had on the quality of my life.

My frustration grew when I learnt that menopause can last for 5, 10 or even 15 years. There are women in their 60’s and even 70’s still struggling.

Turns out that about 85% of Western Women will suffer some symptoms. I was intrigued to read studies showing that Asian women are 7 times less likely to experience these symptoms and that it’s been linked in a major way to their diet.

I was educated on the potential risks’ HRT could present and I made a decision to resolve the situation naturally. I embarked on a journey of discovery where I learnt and experienced firsthand the impact various foods, drinks, activities and mental states have on these symptoms.

I became aware that there were 3 major problems in the area of menopause:

1)  Lack of preparation toward this significant stage in women’s life.
2)  Lack of understanding of how to manage these symptoms.
3)  Lack of integrated and holistic support.

Having become aware to how much suffering women go through in this phase of their lives and how little support and education is available I decided to create
